A Little Summertime

Bare feet, toes curling in the dirt.

Little fingers, dirt beneath the nails.

Happy smiles, blackberry stains her cheeks.

Sparkling eyes, lifted towards the sky.

Ring around the rosy, then plop down in the mud.

A little hand reaching up, a crumpled flower in its grasp.

Little lips sing a song as she toddles through the grass.

An armful of dandilions and clover, it's for the chickies-dear.

A hasty pat for brother, leaving dirt upon his head.

A little love for mama, then it's off to chase the cat.

A questioning tone, hold my hand to take the step.

A little squeal, she spots a foggy hop ahead.

A sneaky glance, (is mama watching?) then grab that little pepper!

Two eager hands help mama push the stroller.

Sun is high, steps are slowing.

Little arms are reaching up- mama hold me!

Tummy's hungry, eyes are sleepy.

Cuddles soon, where is the paci?

She finds a book and then another, blanket tight within her grasp.

Rocky, rocky, eyes are closing,

Breathing slows and then she's dreaming.

Eyelids flutter as mama lifts her.

A little sigh as mama kissed her.

All tucked in soft and cozy.

Soon she'll wake and start all over!

May I never forget these days... May I remember to treasure them amidst the trying moments and the prayers for patience... May she know that Mama loves her, and so does Jesus... May I learn from my heavensent, tiny teacher, to see things with wonder, to trust more fully.. May I forever be thankful for these dear little blessings and not take them for granted...

A quote I love right now...

"I want to tell you everything I know

carry you and guide you.

Yet somehow, as your tiny finger points to things in wonder and your eyes meet mine,

the paradigm shifts.

I once thought I was to show you the world

when all along you came to show me."
