Time Moves At A Steady Pace

Time marches on at a steady pace even in Ghana. It seems hard to believe that we are turning over six months in country already. We had Kendall’s here for a couple of days, then took them to Trev’s. There was a leader meeting and a worker meeting when Kendall’s were at Trev’s.

The afternoon of the workers meeting us men and some of the kids went to a construction site, behind a very nice 6 story hotel with a pool and all the trimmings, where there was working being done on a massive foundation for a large ferris wheel. Allegedly close to the size of “The London Eye”. If it is then it will be a very odd thing to see out in the bush of Ghana. It sounds like there will be kind of a resort type of thing going up around the ferris wheel. The workers were pouring the concrete for the foundation when we were there. They were using a 2.5 to 3 yard mixer that could load it self with the rock, sand, and cement. Just watching them mix and pour put some questions in my mind of the integrity of the concrete but then again, I’m no concrete guy so who am I to talk. The forman thought that in a month they would have the foundation poured and then a crew from China would come to put up the wheel.

The kids are doing well and seem to be very well adjusted to life here. Thankfully they like to be outside and play in the dirt so that all goes well with the lifestyle here. It seems that the rainy season is close to starting. There have been rain in the area with a couple of showers here. The two mango trees in our yard are quite heavy laden with fruit. They say there will come a time when one is tried of mangos. I guess that remains to be seen.

We had revivals here in Jan with Pastor Albert and Pastor Nan Yoaw and then Pastor Akwasi from Kwappanin also helped. He is in charge or the contact man if you will for our congregation. We had a couple nights of preaching and spent a day and a half visiting. Then had communion early in the morning on the third day of our revivals and the Pastors headed for home following the communion service. We also were blessed to reaccepted two older papas that had left  along time ago and now they have decided to come back to God. We are very blessed to have these fine brethren back with us. They will be a big boost to the congregation.

Now this thing is dragging on over a couple months so it will be very scattered but welcome to life here in Ghana a person must go when and where a need is. So, it keeps us on our toes some days. Since the Kyekyewere church has had some reinforcement in the brother hood, it feels like we aren’t as tied down here. So, it has given us the opportunity to be able to travel, visiting the churches of Ghana. We feel very blessed to be able to do this work and to be able to meet all the fine brothers and sisters here in Ghana. It has been a boost to my faith and outlook on life. There a fine brothers and sisters keeping the faith and following God the best they know how in a wide variety of circumstances but through Christ we all are the same and can come together as a church to work and everyone gets along just fine.

One thing that has impressed me through traveling and visiting the church of Ghana is that even though I have never meet some of these members, but I feel right at home with them knowing that we serve the same God.

Sure, we miss our friends back home and would love to see them, but we also have friends here as well, so we feel the pull both ways. But God has a plan for them and for us even though we come from vastly different circumstances. And we look forward to what God has for them and for us as well. So for now ill end this ramble.
